The Liver Transplant and Liver Cancer Program at Jewish Hospital and the University of Louisville is focused on one goal:
Helping our patients SURVIVE LIVER CANCER using all the modern technology available.
Our group is focused on diagnosing and treating cancer of the liver, bile duct and pancreas with new technologies.
Today, cancerous and non-cancerous (benign) tumors of the liver are increasing. The rise in liver cancer has been associated with a steep rise in hepatitis C and NASH ( chronic liver failure associated with obesity).
We have assembled the finest team of nurses, medical doctors, radiologists and surgeons. Our team has been involved in developing the newest medical and surgical devices in the United States and Europe. As an aggressive liver transplant program, we seek to replace cancerous livers with donor organs in an attempt to cure hepatocellular cancer, carcinoid cancer and hemangioendothelioma.
We advocate the use of cutting-edge technologies to give our patients every advantage to Survive Liver Cancer. We provide:
- Minimally Invasive (Laparoscopic/bandaid) Liver Surgery.
- Minimally Invasive Radiofrequency Ablation (cooking tumors).
- Liver Delivered Yttrium-90 Radiation (radiation balls injected into the liver).
- Liver Delivered Chemotherapy/Chemoembolization (chemotherapy injected into the liver)
- New systemic chemotherapy (drugs given by vein).
- Acupuncture.
- Herbal Medicine.
- Liver Transplantation.
We provide hope where there was none. Our aggressive approach to liver cancer provides an opportunity for survival. While doing so, we recognize the special needs of our patients and offer services to support each patient and their family, including pain management, psychological care and counseling. It’s a multi-disciplinary approach designed to provide our patients with the greatest opportunity to improve their quality or life and create the ultimate potential for CURE.
